Two small airplanes hold positions on the ramp at Logan International Airport alongside two large commercial airplanes.

Airports fascinate me. My youngest son is a pilot, so I've learned a bit about airport operations from him. He has told me that Air Traffic Control essentially treats big planes and little planes the same when it comes to getting them up and down and moving them around once they're on the ground.

I thought about that as I watched these two smaller planes, probably from Cape Air, weave between two larger jets on the ramp during some recent downtime at Logan International in Boston. I think it illustrates his point well.

Small carved ornaments sit between the window columns, and the setbacks are topped with tooth-like cornice detailing.
